For all the art lovers out there the Christmas Artists Open Houses festival is back for the twelfth year this November and December.Artists around Brighton and Hove will be opening their homes and studios to the public to showcase their amazing talents. This is a fantastic opportunity to experience the wealth of creativity in the area and this year the event is expected to be bigger and better than ever before. Expect new and exciting ideas which might even inspire you to make your own art at home!

Whether you are looking for something fun and interesting to do, or are stuck for Christmas present ideas this event is definitely well worth a visit!

There is wide variety of art to see including Jewellery, Paintings, Sculptures, Photography, Textiles, Ceramics, and Printmaking and you will be welcomed in to each home to browse and buy original art works direct from the artist. This is also a brilliant way to talk to each artist about their work and get an insight into how it is made. A mixture of professional and amateur artists will be involved in the festival therefore a true range of styles can be witnessed.

Spread throughout Brighton and Hove, Rottingdean and Saltdean the open houses are set up so that it is possible to walk from one to another meaning that you can visit a number of them in one day. It is also free to enter any of the Open Houses. Using the map on the official website you can locate the houses – this could even turn into a fun treasure hunt for the children!

Alongside the art you will also find unique Christmas cards, tree decorations and small presents to fill stockings. Some artists will even offer mulled wine and mince pies so you can relax in a welcoming atmosphere whilst ticking off some Christmas presents from your list! You might even find something to treat yourself with!
