The opening ceremony on Thursday 6th of November marked the fifth opening of the rink and even included a successful performance from the Dancing on Ice and X-Factor star Ray Quinn. Open from the 8th November 2014 until the 18th January 2015 this fun attraction will definitely help you shake off summer blues and get you right in the Christmassy mood! Set against the backdrop of the stunning Pavilion the ice rink transforms at night into a winter wonderland throwing light up and over the palace and into the sky. Who knows, maybe this year it will be even more magical and snow!

The rink has a welcoming atmosphere for all ages and abilities so whether you feel that you have the skating skills of Torvill and Dean or you have never set foot on the ice before the Brighton ice rink will provide you with a fun day out – who knows you might even discover a hidden talent! Families and children are welcome and there is even a session called club Rinkidinks to accommodate children under five. The imaginative use of larger-than-life penguin skate aids are a fun way to build up your child’s confidence on the ice and they add to the magical atmosphere of the rink.

Ice skating is definitely not just for the kids though and the rink is also a very romantic setting for couples –there was even a wedding held there once – so get hinting to your partners!

After all of the fun on the ice visit the rink side bar and kitchen for some heart-warming foods and drinks. There is a menu to suit everyone so whether you are popping down for a glass of mulled wine, or a three course meal there will be something to tickle your fancy! For the chocolate lovers out there I would definitely recommend the Hot Chocolate with Hazelnut to warm you up after skating! The restaurant is open to non-skaters too so it is great for those wishing to sit and watch the action from the warmth of inside.

There are a number of different affordable prices for the hour long sessions…

Adult (12 and over) £13 peak, £10 off peak

Child (under 12) £8.50, peak £7 off peak

Visit the official website for the ice rink to book your tickets!

So put on your hats, gloves, scarves and coats and get those skates on – it definitely is an experience not to be missed!
