Flying into Brighton this weekend is the annual Brighton Kite Festival at Stanmer Park! Established by the well-known club Brighton Kite Flyers, this year will mark the 37th consecutive running of the festival. Founded in the 1970s, Brighton Kite Flyers is a club that has enticed members from around the world, and its members retain the same enthusiasm for all things ‘kite’ forty years on.
Brighton Kite Festival is a free public event that attracts plenty of visitors each year and it never ceases to amaze! Kites of all shapes, sizes, colours, and designs will be criss-crossing across the sunny skies in displays that are put on by world class flyers. This is a fantastic event for all of the family and in the afternoon there is an opportunity for children to make their own kites in the free workshop. Each year there are a number of stalls that sell kites of every description so if you are a keen kite-flyer or a complete novice you might be able to buy yourself some new wings!
Stanmer Park is a beautiful part of the South Downs National Park countryside located on the outskirts of Brighton. Easily accessible by road and train it is a popular destination for family picnics, sports events, and enthusiastic walkers. Hosting a range of events and festivals throughout the year the park is regularly used by all ages and is a fantastic place to visit in every season.
The Brighton Kite Festival will run on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th July, 11am – 5pm and is well recommended!
