If you fancy yourself as a bit of an athlete or just simply like being active then Brighton and Hove has some great sporting activities on offer.

Beach and water based fun is in abundance here and Yellowave is a good place to start. Its permanent beach venue offers beach volleyball, beach rugby, beach soccer or foot volley all in its own idyllic environment with glorious sea views.

If you want to dive straight in and fancy a challenge then Brighton Watersports offers everything from wakeboarding and waterskiing to power boating and yoga on paddle boards for those trying to reconnect with Mother Nature! Taster sessions and kids clubs are also available throughout the summer months.

The local parks are ever popular with a 5k park run taking place every Saturday morning in Hove Park interspersed with focused military fitness classes for those that like to be pushed. Realise your dreams of flight and give paragliding and hang gliding on the South Downs a whirl. The stunning backdrop will only add to your adrenaline rush.

Cycling is a popular activity here too, with an abundance of clubs to choose from bringing cyclists of all ages and abilities together for weekend leisure rides and racing for all kinds. For a list of local gyms, pools, golf courses and racquet sport facilities it’s worth checking out the Brighton and Hove council website for more information. If you like your sports as a spectator only and fancy a flutter too then the Brighton Racecourse or the Greyhound Stadium in Hove has everything you need for a fun packed day or night event.

We can’t forget to mention Brighton’s truly magnificent AMEX Stadium home to our local football club, The Seagulls (occasionally known as Brighton and Hove Albion). The top of the range facilities and 30,000+ capacity guarantees an unrivalled atmosphere that can be enjoyed by fans of all ages.
