Something Brighton’s not short on is shops! Truly a shopper’s paradise offering everything from quirky independents to high street chains, upmarket fashion to upcycled furniture, vintage clothes, jewellery and arts, hip and cool one offs; there’s something for everyone.
If you come to Brighton by train give the well travelled Queens Road a miss. Instead turn right out of the station and take a sharp left down Trafalgar Street which takes you to the heart of the North Laine, popular with hipsters for its eclectic shopping and retro vibe. Visit Snoopers Paradise, a treasure trove of vintage furniture and clothes, and for superb gifts the Lavender Rooms and Edited are not to be missed. For the discerning gent there’s Gresham Blake for modern fine tailoring, and for everything cute and colourful Toby Tiger is a great shop for the kids.
Head to the Lanes for jewellery and antiques where narrow cobbled streets are brimming with both old and the new. The House of Hoye is a must if you’re after unique modern jewellery with an edge.
