Brighton Kite Festival is one of the longest running kite festivals in the UK, and will take place for the 39th consecutive year over the weekend of the 8th & 9th July. Every summer Stanmer Park is the setting for a display of a huge array of kites ranging in shape, size and colour, and this year is no exception.

The festival is a free public show where the organisers put on a number of displays showing off a wide variety of kites, from sets of miniature kites to some of the largest kites to be found in the whole country. There are also some great team displays and sport kite flyers on show to really impress you.

The variety of kites is incredible. In previous years you would have been able to spot enormous dragons, colourful animals such as horses, whales and pandas, giant teddy bears, and even armies of octopuses. Expect all the same and more this year as loads of expert and amateur flyers descend upon Stanmer Park.

The festival makes for the perfect family outing as not only are there kite enthusiasts demonstrating their expertise, there is also the opportunity for everyone to have a go at flying their own kite. It is therefore a great place to bring some food along and have a picnic whilst the kites fly overhead, and best of all it is free to enter! So why not grab a kite, head down to Stanmer Park and enjoy the spectacle on display and join in with the fun!
