Christmas Lights Switch On
The clocks have gone back, the halloween pumpkins have been carved, and the bonfires have been put out for another year, which can only mean one thing... Christmas is coming!!
Every year the official start of the festive season begins in Brighton with the switching on of the Christmas lights. The eagle-eyed among you might have noticed the lights being put up around the city over the last few weeks, but they have yet to be switched on. That will happen at the annual switch on party which this year takes place on Thursday 16th November 2017.
There will be plenty of family-friendly festivities on display, including songs, comedy and other performances, all leading up to the countdown to the big switch on, which this year will be the job of Gogglebox’s Stephen and Chris, who live in the Brighton area. As well as all of this to enjoy there will be a raffle taking place where you can win some great prizes, and with all of the proceeds from the raffle going directly to the local children’s hospice, Chestnut Tree House, not only will you be having some great fun, but you know that you will be helping to raise some money for a great cause just before the holidays.
If the Christmas light switch on gets you in the festive mood rest assured that there will be plenty of things going on around Brighton this year to enjoy. All of the favourites will be back, including the ice rink at the Royal Pavilion, the Christmas Market at Jubilee Square, and the Burning the Clocks Festival at the beach, as well as a whole host of other seasonal events and activities, so you can be sure that Christmas 2017 in Brighton will be as great as ever!
So get yourself down to East Street in the South Lanes from 5:15pm and start Christmas off with a bang - or a flicker?!
