Out and About:
Bexhill-on-Sea is situated in 1066 country between the towns of Eastbourne and Hastings. Bexhill is set in amongst some picturesque countryside with an array of castles and historic attractions in and around Bexhill-on-Sea. It was the birthplace of British motor racing and hosts the Roaring 20's event each July - with vintage cars, planes and much more. The famous De La Warr Pavilion is yards away which has recently undergone extensive restoration and now offers visitors a large contemporary art gallery with an exciting arts program. For history lovers there is The Museum of Costume and Social History plus The Bexhill Museum which runs events, activities and workshops throughout the year for children and adults too.
The seafront location is excellent, and all the amenities of the town are immediately at hand, with a good choice of restaurants and shops. Buses to Eastbourne and Hastings stop very close by, and the railway station is five minutes walk away. Finding a place to park was sometimes a challenge, but we were always able to find somewhere. The first-floor property is very well equipped, and has a range of modern appliances. It feels open and roomy, and the large living/dining area has a pleasant view across the (quiet) main road and shingle beach to the sea, with Beachy Head away to the west. It was a very comfortable spot in which to relax at the end of a day's sightseeing - or just to while away an hour or two watching people, seagulls - and the sea. The balcony is small, with room only for two chairs; but it was good to sit out in the open air for a while.
