Located on the West Sussex coast, Chichester is situated between two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), Chichester Harbour and the South Downs, and is within easy reach of many other attractions and places of interest. Both the South Downs and Harbour themselves provide opportunities for those who enjoy outdoor activities, with Goodwood Motorsport and Racing ground nearby as well as the beach at West Wittering - perfect if you’re looking to get away and relax by the sea on its sandy beaches. However, if it’s the city itself which you’re looking to explore then you’ll never be short of things to do.
Chichester is home to a 12th century cathedral where you can take a tour inside and soak up its many centuries of history before moving on to check out some of the other attractions which the city boasts.
Held over a four week period each year, between June and July, is the Festival of Chichester. With a varied programme of arts, dance and music, all tastes are catered across its large annual programme of events. Additionally for those who enjoy the arts, checkout the annual Chichester International Film Festival.
Alternatively, for those who are enthusiasts of history and science, be sure to stop by The Novium (Chichester’s Museum) and the nearby South Downs Planetarium and Science Centre.
With rail connections directly into the city, Chichester is easily accessible and within just a short driving distance of other coastal hotspots which include Portsmouth with 30 minutes and Brighton within the hour.
