A charming Grade II listed period cottage with dark wood beams inside and decorating the outside. The cottage is tucked away in a secret corner off the ancient Church Square. Built around 1400 with later additions in the 18th century. Rye was once surrounded by sea, this fortified hilltop town played an important role in the defence of the south coast of England. These days, the river no longer harbours warships and is home to the local fishing fleet. Rye hosts a 'Scallop Festival' in February each year. There are many good pubs and restaurants within Rye to sample the locally caught fish. Shop: 100 yards Pub: 100 yards Coast: 3 miles

Lovely historical property; great working fire.
I've stayed here many times and will visit again. Considering the uniqueness and antiquity of the building and its location it is a very affordable holiday let. I love coming here, it makes staying in Rye even more of a special event.
